Colegio Nueva Granada (CNG) fulfills both Colombian governmental requirements and U.S. accreditation standards. In 1961 the School was approved by the Colombian Ministry of Education and since then has been accredited by The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS).

SACS is the recognized accrediting body in eleven U.S. Southern States and in Latin America. A team of educators visits the school every five years to determine if it continues to be an accredited school. The accrediting standards used by SACS are designed to ensure that a school is providing a quality education. Nearly 100 standards are examined ranging from whether the school provides a U.S. style curriculum to the qualification of teachers to financial resources. It also includes a self-study process: each institution applying for accreditation or renewal of accreditation conducts a comprehensive study of its purpose, programs, and services. This process results in a school improvement plan that documents the institution’s effectiveness in reaching its stated goals and its compliance with standards.
