Counseling & Social-Emotional Support

CNG school counselors help enhance student success in academic, personal, social-emotional development, and career planning.

The counseling team, which is at the heart of support for all CNG students, includes 13 guidance counselors for our 14 grade levels and three college counselors. At CNG, we provide a strong focus on character education and emphasize social-emotional learning and personal well-being. We strive to ensure that our students develop self-awareness along with skills in intercultural competence in order to prepare responsible global citizens who will thrive in multi-cultural and multi-faceted environments. The CNG School Counseling Program is aligned with the International School Counseling Association (ISCA) standards.

In the Primary School, we have taken specific steps to increase social-emotional well-being at every grade level, including:

  • Creating an affective education curriculum to meet the social-emotional needs of our students and families.
  • Developing and hosting family learning sessions to respond to identified community needs.
  • Designing a screening tool using evidence-based screeners to identify students in need of social-emotional support.
  • Working with all stakeholders involved in students' well-being, such as administrators, teachers, families, and external therapists.
  • Responding to students' emotional needs by designing and implementing whole group, small group, and individual support.
  • Supporting students with crisis management as needed.

CNG is proud to have 13 guidance counselors for 14 grade levels, ensuring every student has the support they need to achieve their full potential for excellence.
