Community Service

CNG has a long-standing tradition of helping students demonstrate moral action by providing opportunities that are tied to the curriculum as well as our core values of Respect, Responsibility, Integrity, and Caring.

The Service and Character Development Department supports teachers in community outreach initiatives, in alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, ensuring students participate in community service efforts and in curriculum-centered service learning projects. Last year's CNG Annual Outreach Report provides a comprehensive overview of our school's commitment to social and environmental impact in the community.

OPPORTUNITIES WITHIN THE COMMUNITY

CNG students serve our school in a variety of leadership roles, such as elected Personero and Cabildante Representatives, Student Council, House Leaders, Admissions Ambassadors, and as members of National Honor Society, National Junior Honor Society, and Heroes.

In recent years, the Condor Families program has become a valuable addition to our school culture where students from different grade levels gather several times throughout the year with teachers and staff, and carry out fun activities fostering healthy relationships planned in alignment with our CNG Core Values.

OPPORTUNITIES WITH OUR SISTER-SCHOOL: FUNDACION HOGAR NUEVA GRANADA

In addition to our strong internal culture of service, our CNG parent community was instrumental in the establishment of the Fundacion Hogar Nueva Granada in 2001.

Every year, each Primary, Elementary and Middle school grade level participates in integration activities with friends from the Fundacion Hogar Nueva Granada. These gatherings are planned collaboratively between teachers from both schools and are designed to strengthen students' interpersonal skills and social awareness, while making connections to curriculum.

Once in High School, students support the FHNG in a number of ways such as participating in the FHNG Community Service mornings, and proposing a range of project ideas: futbol tournaments, in-kind drives, donations to finance specific academic programs, offering a weekly STEM and Astronomy Clubs, gathering data on social emotional wellbeing of FHNG students. These are just a few examples of how our students dedicate their time and knowledge to contribute to the FHNG programs!

We invite you to read more about FHNG and the ways in which you can get involved!

GLOBAL COMMUNITY

In any given school year, CNG students also support over 50 non-profit organizations and global and local issues through school-run programs. Students and teachers are increasingly bringing attention to important issues that they are passionate about and involving the school community to address them.

Service is embedded in CNG, and we are actively addressing the UN Sustainable Development Goals and plan on increasing the knowledge and awareness of all community members to give back in an intentional manner, working towards a better and more sustainable future for all.
