Libraries & Media Centers

Colegio Nueva Granada has three libraries dedicated to giving our community access to the best possible learning tools.

  • The Primary Library serves students in K4 through 2nd grades
  • The Elementary Library serves students in 3rd - 5th grades
  • The Elisa Vargas Library serves Middle and High School students as well as the greater adult community.

Together the three libraries maintain a collection of:

  • Over 45,000 print volumes
  • eBook and audiobook collections
  • Print/digital magazines
  • Newspaper subscriptions

The libraries also subscribe to over fifteen online research databases and various encyclopedias, all of which contain the latest full-text periodical sources. All electronic resources can be accessed remotely to facilitate student research at home.

Parents are also encouraged to explore and utilize library resources. Our online resources such as Flipster and Overdrive are available for alumni and our extended community.

Primary School Library

Welcome to your Primary School Library!

We serve K4 – 2nd grade students, parents, and staff. Our present collection has over 12,000 copies including books, e-Books, audio books, and videos in English and Spanish.

Our website offers five databases such as World Book Online Encyclopedia and Gale Kid’s InfoBits among others.

Primary students come to class on a fixed schedule every 6 days for 45-minute sessions. Students may also use our Makerspace where they have the opportunity to explore, create and share through puzzles and games.

Furthermore, they are able to develop 21st-century skills since they are exposed to critical thinking and problem-solving skills. In addition, the library provides Flipster, a wonderful digital reading platform where our community can enjoy popular magazines.

Welcome to OUR Elementary Library!

Our library is here to serve Elementary students in grades 3-5, parents and the larger school community.

Our library proudly offers a large collection of over 17,000 books (print and ebooks) in both Spanish and English. We also have digital access to databases for research and information gathering as well as online English and Spanish books for enjoyment.  In addition, the library provides access to Flipster for digital magazines and SORA/Overdrive (our online platform for ebooks and audiobooks) and Make-Make, a digital book platform solely in Spanish.

Each 6 day cycle, ES students come to the library for one 50 minutes class where we promote the love of reading for enjoyment and help develop 21st century skills such as problem-solving/critical thinking.   Students are encouraged to check out up to 4 books simultaneously. We are also open for 2 recesses daily so students can checkout continually and have a safe quiet space to read and use the creative space (Covid permitting).
