From Dr. Adams

January 18, 2010

Dear community,

First of all I would like to wish you all a very Happy New Year. I hope that you had a restful Holiday break with your children and close friends and family. We are happy to be back in session working with your children. This semester promises to be an exciting one with many activities and events.

Important upcoming events:

• MAP testing – January 25 – February 19
• Middle and High School Classroom without Walls trips in January and February
• CNG Model United Nations – February 23-26
• ISO Re-Certification – March 4 and 5
• Middle School Binational games in Cartagena – March 16-21
• Destination Imagination in Bucaramanga – March 19-21
• CNG Colombian Bicentennial celebration – April 29

Important MAP testing news:

• Starting January 25th and ending February 19th, students in grades 2 through 10 will once again take the Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) tests offered to us by NWEA.

• We only have four (4) weeks to assess all of our students and make-up weeks are not possible.

• MAP tests are administered to determine student instructional level and to measure academic growth throughout the school year, and from year to year in the areas of language usage, reading comprehension, and mathematics.

• MAP testing has been scheduled on this occasion in and around the different Classroom Without Walls (CWW) trips in grades 6 through 12 so as to not create conflicts.

Important MAP testing Reminders and Requests:

• In order for us to properly assess all students in the above mentioned grades and assess their academic growth from testing session to testing session, it is of utmost importance that your children are at school for the entire testing window.

• Please make sure that all medical appointments, classes, etc. are scheduled for after school hours.

• During the testing window, students should get plenty of rest and eat well-balanced breakfasts each morning in order to be ready to test each day.

• It is important that all students return to school following all CWW trips on the designated days.

MAP Resources for Parents:

Thank you very much. We look forward to seeing you on campus soon.

Sincerely,
