The first Model United Nations Conference hosted by Colegio Nueva Granada in Bogotá, Colombia was held in 1982. It was the first event of its kind in Colombia, and today retains its status as the oldest MUN Conference in the country.

In recent years, MUNCNG has undergone many changes that reflect its present character. In 2006 the 24th the Conference was held at its current location, Centro de Convenciones Compensar, for the first time. The modern facilities granted the MUNCNG the ability to grow and diversify, thus improving the quality of the experience it could offer those attending the conference.

2007 saw the 25th MUNCNG, a conference which marked a milestone in the history of the event, asserted it not only as the oldest of its kind in Colombia, but amongst the longest-running in Latin America.In 2008 MUNCNG undertook a new transformation with its adoption of the motto Sovereign Humanity, thus combining two of the most important elements of international politics and the United Nations into the workings of the conference: the Sovereignty of States and the objective of the inviolability of Humanity merged into a powerful conception of what the MUN Experience should be.
The 28th MUNCNG Conference will be held in February 2010. It will serve as a tribute to its predecessors as well as a step into the future. This years’ conference has adopted as a new motto An Unanimous Commitment. With change in mind, delegates will be able to participate in more committees than ever before, making a commitment to themselves and to others to yield diplomacy and tolerance, searching only for resolutions unanimously accepted.
